The Pelham Cheeks are designed to combine the snaffle and curb action of a double bridle and to be used with two reins. The Dr. Bristol plate is set at an angle, and so care should be taken to fit the bit in the correct orientation, especially as paired here with a cheek that may apply a lever action.
